Job Description

Summary: Assist in the preparation and production of pastries and desserts under the guidance of the Pastry Chef. Ensure high-quality standards and consistent presentation in all pastry items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation: Assist in the preparation of pastries, desserts, and other baked goods according to established recipes and standards.
  • Production: Execute pastry production tasks including mixing, baking, decorating, and plating.
  • Quality Control: Maintain high standards of hygiene and quality in the preparation and presentation of pastries.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of pastry ingredients, including proper storage and rotation of stock.
  • Cleanliness: Ensure cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen and equipment; adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • Assistance: Support senior pastry staff in the development of new recipes and menu items as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.

Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or relevant qualification preferred.
  • Previous experience in a pastry or baking role, preferably in a luxury hotel or Michelin restaurant setting.
  • Strong understanding of pastry techniques and ingredients; good organizational and time-management skills; ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Comfortable to work in fast-paced kitchen environment, which may include exposure to heat and varying temperatures.
