Job Description

🌟 THE MISSION

You are the digital heartbeat of Mama 🛡️💖 — ensuring our technology runs smoothly, our teams stay connected, and our guests enjoy a seamless experience powered by reliable systems.

As our IT Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the technology operations of Mama Shelter Cape Town during its pre-opening journey and beyond. Working closely with the IT team, hotel departments, and Ennismore support functions, you’ll help establish, maintain, and optimise the systems that keep Mama running.

Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

  • Technology Support Champion 💻 Provide day-to-day IT support to hotel colleagues, troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and system-related issues to ensure smooth operations.
  • Systems Guardian 🛡️ Support the setup, maintenance, and effective use of hotel technology systems, ensuring reliability and alignment with Mama and Ennismore standards.
  • Pre-Opening IT Support 🏨✨ Assist with IT setup, system installations, user access, hardware deployment, and technology readiness ahead of Mama Shelter Cape Town’s opening.
  • User Experience Partner 🤝 Support colleagues across all departments by providing timely solutions, guidance, and training on IT systems and tools.
  • Cybersecurity Advocate 🔒 Follow and promote IT security standards, data protection practices, access controls, and company policies to safeguard hotel information.
  • Hardware & Asset Controller 🖥️ Maintain accurate records of IT equipment, support inventory management, and ensure all technology assets are properly maintained.
  • Vendor & Support Coordination 📞 Coordinate with external IT providers and vendors to resolve issues and ensure effective delivery of technology services.
  • Systems & Application Support ⚙️Support key hospitality systems including PMS, POS, network platforms, and business applications to ensure operational continuity.
  • Team Player with Curiosity 🚀Bring a proactive mindset, problem-solving approach, and passion for technology to support Mama’s vibrant and fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

MADE FOR YOU… ONLY IF ✨

  • You have 2–3 years’ experience in IT support, coordination, or hospitality technology roles 💻
  • You have experience supporting hotel, restaurant, or service-focused environments 🏨
  • You have strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network issues
  • You are comfortable supporting users with different levels of technical knowledge
  • You have strong organisational skills and attention to detail when managing systems and assets
  • You understand IT security, access management, and data confidentiality 🔒
  • You are customer-focused, patient, and able to communicate technical solutions clearly 🤝
  • You are proactive, adaptable, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment ⚡
  • You are reliable, accountable, and committed to delivering excellent internal service

YOUR LITTLE EXTRAS 🎯

  • Experience supporting a hotel pre-opening environment is an advantage 🏨
  • Knowledge of hospitality systems such as Opera PMS, POS systems (Micros/Simphony), Sun Systems, or similar platforms is preferred 💻
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, networking, and IT infrastructure support is a plus
  • Relevant IT certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or equivalent) are an advantage
  • International hospitality experience is a plus 🌍

WORK AUTHORISATION 🌍

  • Applicants must already hold valid work rights/work authorisation for South Africa. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the country where the role is based.
