Job Description

🌟 THE MISSION

You are the guardian of Mama’s supplies 🛡️💖 — ensuring every ingredient, product, and item that enters the hotel is received, stored, and managed with care, accuracy, and efficiency.

As our Storekeeper / Receiver, you’ll play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of Mama Shelter Cape Town during its pre-opening journey and beyond. You’ll ensure all deliveries meet quality standards, inventory is well controlled, and our teams have what they need to create memorable guest experiences.

Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivery Quality Champion 📦 Receive all incoming goods, verifying quantities, quality, specifications, and condition against purchase orders and delivery documents.
  • Inventory Guardian 🛡️ Maintain accurate stock records, ensure proper storage practices, and support effective inventory control to minimise waste and shortages.
  • Receiving Expert 🔍 Inspect deliveries for accuracy, freshness, and compliance with food safety and brand standards before acceptance.
  • Organisation Master 📋 Ensure all storage areas are clean, organised, labelled, and maintained according to hygiene, safety, and operational standards.
  • Stock Control Partner 📊 Support regular stock counts, inventory movements, and reconciliation processes to maintain accurate records.
  • Cost Awareness Champion 💰 Help control costs by monitoring stock levels, reducing wastage, and ensuring efficient use of supplies.
  • Supplier Coordination 🤝 Work closely with suppliers, purchasing teams, and hotel departments to ensure smooth receiving processes and timely availability of products.
  • Pre-Opening Support 🏨✨ Assist in setting up stores, inventory systems, receiving procedures, and operational processes ahead of Mama Shelter Cape Town’s opening.
  • Team Supporter 🙏 Collaborate with Finance, Kitchen, F&B, and Operations teams to ensure seamless stock management and service readiness.

Qualifications

MADE FOR YOU… ONLY IF ✨

  • You have 2+ years’ experience in a storekeeper, receiving, or inventory role within hospitality 🏨
  • You have experience working in a hotel, restaurant, or high-volume F&B environment
  • You understand stock control, receiving procedures, and inventory management 📦
  • You have strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling deliveries and records 👀
  • You are organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities ⏰
  • You understand food safety, hygiene, and storage standards ✅
  • You are comfortable working with inventory systems and basic reporting tools 💻
  • You communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams 🤝
  • You demonstrate integrity, accountability, and care in handling hotel assets 🔒
  • You bring a proactive, hands-on attitude and enjoy being part of a growing team ⚡

YOUR LITTLE EXTRAS 🎯

  • Experience in a hotel pre-opening environment is an advantage 🏨
  • Familiarity with BirchStreet, procurement systems, inventory software, or hospitality systems is preferred 💻
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards is a plus ✅
  • Experience supporting luxury or lifestyle hospitality operations is an advantage ✨
  • You are adaptable, energetic, and excited to help build something special from the beginning 🌍

WORK AUTHORISATION 🌍

  • Applicants must already hold valid work rights/work authorisation for South Africa. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the country where the role is based.
