Job Description

We are currently looking for a Senior Director of People & Culture to join our team here at Ennismore to lead the People & Culture function across our 21c Museum Hotels brand.

Ennismore is growing quickly and has ambitious plans, so we are looking for someone who will lead our existing 21c Museum Hotels as well as take on additional properties in the future.  This role will report directly to the VP of People & Culture, Americas for Ennismore and work closely with the COO for 21c Museum Hotels.

This role will be responsible for leading the People & Culture function across all Ennismore managed 21c Museum Hotels in the US as well as future additional hotels in the Ennismore Americas portfolio.  This role will work across multiple properties and multiple projects at a time in collaboration with various discipline leads both on property and above property.

Goals of this role include acting as culture champion and custodian of the loved 21c brand, ensuring the brand DNA stays at the heart of everything we do as well as taking it into the future; attracting and retaining the best talent across Ennismore; attaining high team member engagement; creating an efficient, supportive and modern approach to the everyday people management across our business.

The ideal candidate is an experienced human resource professional in all aspects, is a trusted leader, can lead change, works quickly and is a natural collaborator. 


What you'll do... 

Regional Duties

  • You'll get involved and lead projects. We want to hear your ideas and get your input.
  • You’ll lead our efforts in embedding 21c values and culture as well as Ennismore values into your team.
  • You’ll lead and manage the People & Culture team across the 21c hotels.
  • Major areas of responsibility/ management include, but are not limited to: recruitment, wage and salary administration, training, and employee relations. 
  • You’ll ensure that the hotels operate within the employment law framework in each operating state and locality. 
  • You will advise General Managers, Senior Leadership and People & Cultures teams on all people-related items.
  • Drive above property initiatives from a brand and/or Ennismore wide perspective.
    • Examples include Workplace, Inclusive Ennismore, Leadership Programs, and a number of people tech launches planned for 2024 and beyond.
  • Develop creative and innovative ways to attract talent to our business in the region.
  • Lead investigations of a serious nature and any that involve multi property concerns. 
  • Provide oversight for labor relations, employee relations, employment matters, employment claims and litigation for Ennismore’s Home Base Louisville office and for property level matters requiring senior level attention.
  • Drive the performance management process, including goal setting, alignment to incentive plans, and feedback exchange for all properties in the region. These are to be in line with Ennismore global process and programs as set.
  • Ensure Ennismore programs are implemented and adopted within all 21c Museum hotels and any other hotels in the assigned remit.
  • Drive the career development process and succession planning for the region.
  • Establish competitive wage rates, staffing plans and employee relations strategy for the brand and region.

Brand Duties


  • You’ll be the culture champion for the 21c brand, promoting a fair, safe and equitable environment, and championing empowerment, innovation, development, and communication.
  • Ensure adherence to 21c brand standards on all things People & Culture related. 
  • You'll create awareness for the 21c brand and Ennismore through strategic activities to attract talent to hotels across the brand.
  • Design, create and implement innovative and streamlined programs that are reflective of the 21c brand (and other brands as needed) in areas that include induction and onboarding, service & skills training, compliance, leadership skills, and more.

On Site Property Expectations:

  • Fill gaps due to People Team vacancies, includes on property presence as required.
  • Ensure People & Culture Team for 21c hotels is properly skilled up and staffed appropriately for the market and season.
  • At minimum quarterly visit to each property to audit & review brand & service standards, performance targets, succession planning.  Report to be issued to General Manager/COO/VP and strategy set in place for following quarter.
  • On property presence as needed and deemed necessary by COO and VP of P&C.

  • You have at least four years’ experience as the human resource leader in a multi-property hotel environment; lifestyle hotels a plus.
  • Ability to take ownership of issues, solve problems and make effective decisions.
  • Ability to simplify processes and create buy-in at all levels.

  • A quick learner, with a growth mindset and are up for doing things differently and trying (almost) everything once.
