Company Description

Groups & Events Manager

Full time, permanent role

The Hoxton is getting ready to open its doors in Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany region and home to some of the world’s most famous masterpieces of Renaissance art, architecture and monuments. This eye-candy city is packed with culture and is the birthplace of gelato – we did not need any persuading to make it our second home in the country.

The Hoxton in Florence will feature 161 beautiful bedrooms of varying sizes, a large ground floor restaurant, bar, lobby, rooftop and courtyard. There is also a basement meeting and events space.

More about us…

The Hoxton is a series of open-house hotels, each in a neighbourhood that we love. Ever since we opened our first hotel in Shoreditch, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that: proving style doesn’t need to be sacrificed for good value and providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighbourhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces.

Job Description

What you’ll do…

  • Lead our busy reactive Groups & Events team by leading by example and delivering training and support on Hoxton brand standards for all stages of our reactive quoting, contracting and planning journey.
  • Have a great understanding of our operation – and support the groups & events team in training on our operation and providing tip-top handovers to the hotel teams in order to deliver incredible guest experiences.
  • Work with the Sales Team on projects and initiatives to drive conversion and identify opportunities for success.
  • Provide forecasting and reporting on revenues and business levels and help turn these into strategies and understanding to support the team maximising conversion, driving revenues, and hitting targets.
  • Show your keen eye for detail to use, update and train the team on our booking systems: think tracking and following up on enquiries, generating contracts, invoices and function sheets, inputting details for operational handover, taking deposits and tracking payments and keeping an up-to-date database.
  • Develop great product knowledge and proactively share this with the team through training and day to day support – become a ‘go to’ person who either knows the answer or where to find it!
  • Prioritise developing client relationships and work to truly understand guest needs, while always following up and creating opportunities to develop repeat business.
  • Work with the Sales Team on projects and initiatives to drive conversion and identify opportunities for success.
  • Be an ambassador for The Hoxton brand and support the team in keeping the guest experience at the heart of everything we do.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for…

  • Individuals. You’re looking for a place where you can be you; no clones in suits here.
  • Passion for hospitality – whether that’s a drink, a meal, an event or a bed for the night.
  • You’re all about having a positive impact on the people you interact with, leaving them with a memorable experience.
  • We leave our egos at the door and help get things done.
  • You’re up for doing things differently and trying (almost) everything once.
  • If we got stuck in a lift together, we’d have a good time and share a few laughs.
  • You want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other, and has fun along the way.
  • Experience working within reactive sales in groups or events within hotels in a leadership role.
  • Someone who gets a kick out of converting sales, with a track record of beating targets.
  • Experience using a system like Opera and Delphi would be an advantage.
  • A people person, great at building and nurturing long lasting relationships.
  • You’re a proactive and experienced individual with great enthusiasm and self-motivation.
