The Hoxton, Amsterdam | Herengracht 255, 1016 BJ Amsterdam, Netherlands

Apply

Company Description

We’re looking for a People & Culture Manager to join us at The Hoxton.

We have gathered some of the brightest doers, smartest thinkers and the most talented makers from a variety of backgrounds. In your role as People & Culture Manager you will support their Talent journey.

More about us…

Once the Mayor’s home, now our home, The Hoxton Amsterdam sits pretty on Amsterdam’s Herengracht canal. The hotel houses 111 rooms, The Apartment, our meetings & events concept, and our all-day restaurant & bar, Lotti’s. A lively neighbourhood hangout – we’ve hosted locals and internationals and became a bit of an institution in Amsterdam over the last 10 years.

The Hoxton brand is a series of open-house hotels, each in a neighbourhood that we love. Ever since we opened our first hotel in Shoreditch, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that: proving style doesn’t need to be sacrificed for good value and providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighbourhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces.

What’s in it for you…

  • Become part of a team that’s very passionate about creating great hospitality experiences.
  • The chance to challenge the norm and work in an environment that is both creative and rewarding.
  • Competitive salary.
  • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) and pension.
  • Food on us during your shift.
  • Enjoy a free night at The Hoxton and a meal for two when you first start with us.
  • Training to get you settled into your role with ongoing development that helps you think, make and thrive to set you up for success at work.
  • An annual diversity and inclusion calendar of events creating opportunities for you to learn, celebrate and make a positive impact.
  • Regular team get togethers, from our High Fives to our (pretty special!) team parties – we know how to have a good time!
  • It’s ok not to be ok, we offer access to OpenUp, a trusted platform for professional support and a network of mental health first aiders.
  • Pedal like a local - Enjoy a Swapfiets membership with a discount: repairs and maintenance included.
  • Stay active your way with a discounted Urban Sports Club membership, supporting your overall wellbeing and balance.
  • Join an innovative, fast-growing, international group that is shaking things up on the hospitality scene.
  • Excellent discounts across The Hoxton and the global Ennismore family.

Job Description

What you’ll do…

We don't go for strict long-winded job descriptions, however here's an idea of how we see the role:

  • You'll be the first point of contact for our talent in the business for general enquiries.
  • You’ll lead our efforts in embedding The Hoxton values and behaviours.
  • You'll lead our Recruitment & Selection cycle from advertising on our various platforms, arranging interviews through to reference checking.
  • You'll be responsible for settling our new Talent in from arranging their starter paperwork through to their induction.
  • You'll manage the Talent review process from coffee chats, annual reviews through to talent and career management.
  • You'll create awareness of our Brand through strategic activities to attract talent to our hotel.
  • You'll be responsible to coordinate our Learning & Development programmes, liaising with participants, calendar invites, reminders through to gathering feedback.
  • You’ll manage the nuts and bolts of the department, our policies, processes and procedures ensuring we are compliant and on top of it at all times.
  • You'll get involved in projects. We want to hear your ideas and get your input on how to streamline our processes and to deliver innovative solutions into the business.

Qualifications

What we're looking for...

  • You'll come with 3/4 years’ experience in Human Resources.
  • Fluent English and Dutch ideally (spoken and written).
  • You’ll have an appropriate level of higher education.
  • You jump out of bed every morning, fizzing with energy and jazzed about what you’re doing today.
  • You love love love people. It is a role in our People function after all.
  • You get us. You know our hotels, you’ve hung out in our bars and possibly regretted that last cocktail the next morning.
  • You are a bundle of ideas.  They happen in the shower, on the bus, and in the office.
  • You think big. We like a man with a plan – you’re keen to contribute to our People strategy.
  • You execute. You can make the ideas a reality in the business, delivering on time and on budget.
  • You’re not precious. You appreciate some ideas work and some don’t. But we do like to try (almost) everything once.
  • You are humble. There are no egos, and no drama.
  • You know that sometimes that crazy whacky idea is the one that changes everything.
  • You like detail, a lot of detail, possibly mildly OCD!

This is a very special opportunity to join an extremely friendly company, which is growing rapidly. Get in touch to start your People journey…
