Job Description

What do we expect from you?

This position is perhaps one of the most critical in a hotel as it comes under every guest’s scrutiny. Under the general guidance of the Director of Spa or any other authorized by the management. Is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests at the pool deck, Gym and Changing room areas with the standards of Mondrian Doha. Greets guests at the pool deck area, provides pool towels to guests, escort guests and positions chairs, sets up and refreshes. Maintains the cleanliness and physical appearance of pool deck area, Gym, Changing rooms and the rest rooms and assist the operation as a lifeguard.

How your day looks like:

  • To provide courteous, professional, efficient and flexible service at all times.
  • To perform all duties and tasks in the assigned Place of Work
  • To be entirely flexible and adapt to rotate within the different sub-department as assigned.
  • To perform all duties and tasks when rotated or assigned to another Department.
  • To be fully conversant with all services, activities, facilities Spa and F&B Promotions offered by the hotel and recommend to the guests.
  • To perform opening and closing procedures established for the Place of Work as assigned.
  • To have a thorough understanding and knowledge of pool and gym facilities, hours of operation, location of facilities, and emergency procedures.
  • To ensure that the Place of Work and surrounding area is kept clean and organized at all times.
  • To monitor operating supplies and reduce spoilage, breakage and wastage.
  • To handle guest enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner and report guest complaints or problems to Spa Manager and Director of Spa if no immediate solution can be found and assure follow up with guests.
  • To keep all keys signed out/ in a secure manner and return them at the course of duty.
  • To hand over to the Housekeeping Supervisor all Lost & Found items with full and detailed information
  • To have a complete understanding of the different cleaning products and their economical use.
  • To be familiar with the policies and procedures concerning fire, emergency evacuation, accidents, bomb threats, law and order situations.
  • Ensures that health, hygiene and safety regulations are complied.
  • To be fully aware and conversant of Mondrian, values and goals and is responsible to integrate them in the day to day operation.
  • To be fully aware and conversant of Mondrian environmental Charter and is responsible to integrate them in the day to day operation.
  • To be fully aware and conversant of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 policies and procedures and responsible to integrate them in the day to day operation.
  • To collect and segregate the recyclable waste from the guest area.
  • To use the waste compactor from the garbage room while disposing the general waste.

General

  • To understand and strictly adhere to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
  • To report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform at all times as per the grooming standards.
  • To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
  • To maintain a good rapport and working relationship with employees in the Place of Work and all other departments.
  • To attend and contribute to all staff meetings Departmental and Hotel trainings scheduled and other related activities.
  • To fully support the Departmental Training Function in the Department assigned.
  • To respond to any changes in the Housekeeping Department function as dictated by the hotel.
  • To project at all times a positive and motivated attitude and exercise self control.
  • To provide a courteous and professional service at all times.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES:

  • To assist in carrying out a quarterly and annual inventory of operating equipment.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Pool and Fitness supervisor, Assistant spa manager and Director of Spa.

JOB TASKS:

  • Performs all duties in a timely and professional manner
  • Turns in lost and found items throughout shift according to hotel procedures
  • Cleans and maintains the restrooms, changing rooms and the Gym in the Pool deck area.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory of pool towels throughout shift, obtaining clean towels from the laundry and returning dirty towels
  • Provide excellent service consistent with the hotels standards operating procedures and brand attributes.
  • To attend daily briefing in Pool and Fitness conducted by Spa Manager, Spa director or supervisor.
  • To collect Task Sheet, Keys & Tools from the Spa, pool and fitness office & return them at the end of the shift.
  • To ensure that you sign out and in for the keys.
  • Adheres to all gym area safety standards, including safety procedures for adverse weather conditions
  • Demonstrate how to carry out various exercises and routines
  • To keep an eye on people indulging in recreational activities on the pool
  • Proactively identify hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidents 
  • Promptly communicates food and beverage service requests to pool Food and Beverage Servers
  • Cleans, maintains, and positions pool furniture
  • Picks up trash and dirty towels and repositions chairs throughout shift
  • Applies excellent guest relations skills when interacting with guests
  • Watch clients do exercises and show or tell them correct techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness
  • Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations on sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment
  • Promptly communicates food and beverage service requests to pool Food and Beverage Servers
  • Cleans, maintains, and positions gym furniture
  • Picks up trash and dirty towels and repositions chairs throughout shift
  • Applies excellent guest relations skills when interacting with guests
  • Performs all duties in a timely and professional manner

  • Willing to take ownership of all guest requests and complaints, try to resolve issues immediately and follow up to ensure the guests satisfaction.
  • Identify and report defects throughout the gym area, notify supervisors and concerned departments immediately of hazards, injuries, equipment or processes that negatively affect the operations.
  • Knows the location and contents of First Aid Kit and has basic Knowledge of the principles and practices first aide.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of gym and facilities including straightening and stacking chairs, collecting soiled towels and trash, moving chairs, towels, replacing flags, and cleaning signs.

  • Ensure the pool deck is swept and watered down and that all furniture is in the correct place, when setting up in the morning.
  • Work closely with other departments that are essential to ensuring a positive guest experience.

RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Do not leave your work section without hand over to a reliever
  • Keep the pantry and the service lift areas closed always
  • Keep the pantry and the service area clean and neat
  • Do not lend anyone your key
  • To follow all the procedures of  the key signing in and out
  • Clean and care of your equipment as directed
  • Follow safety rules while at work
  • Do not give out guest names or room numbers
  • Not to throw away anything that guests leave lying around
  • Watch for suspicious behaviour, and report unusual moves
  • Watch closely for fire or any incident
  • Do not eat in guest areas
  • Not to carry on small talk with others while on duty
  • Do not use guest towels for cleaning
  • Not to put your hands in the waste bin when emptying it
  • Report any breakages or damages to the Housekeeping.
  • According to the Hotel needs, you might be required to work in any of the areas of the properties.

Qualifications

Required Certifications and Experience:

  • Possession of a valid Lifeguard Certification/License
  • Valid First Aid License
  • Professional Rescuer Cardiopulmonary (CPR) Certificate
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a lifeguard in a 5-star property

Knowledge Base:

  • Familiarity with pool equipment and maintenance
  • Proficiency in lifesaving methods, including first aid and standard resuscitation measures
  • Understanding of the rules and regulations governing the hotel's pool
  • Knowledge of swimming pool sanitation and chlorination systems

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in the application of lifesaving techniques
  • Ability to react quickly and remain calm during emergencies
  • Capability to perform rescue actions, administer first aid, and CPR

  • Warmly greet and check-in guests upon their entry to the pool area
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting with towels, water, and floaters for children
  • Contribute to the cleanliness and setup of the fitness area and lockers
  • Regularly inspect and ensure cleanliness of restrooms and changing rooms
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the pool area
