The Hoxton is getting ready to open its doors in Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany region and home to some of the world’s most famous masterpieces of Renaissance art, architecture and monuments. This eye-candy city is packed with culture and is the birthplace of gelato – we did not need any persuading to make it our second home in the country.

The Hoxton in Florence will feature 161 beautiful bedrooms of varying sizes, a large ground floor restaurant, bar, lobby, rooftop and courtyard. There is also a basement meeting and events space.

Job Description

What you’ll do…

  • Play a vital role in the month end processes for the hotel, ensuring that the hotel closes the books on time and accurately each and every month.
  • Oversee the financial day-to-day for the hotel, including processing and managing revenues, accounts payable processing and payroll processing – all of this whilst working closely with Director of Finance and the team.
  • Oversee our financial processes, keeping an eye on how we can improve ways of working.
  • Participate in monthly reporting, taking on our month-end process that incorporates P&Ls, balance sheet (including reconciliation) and cashflow.
  • Making sure that we keep on the right track with finance policies & procedures.
  • Support your business partners in building accurate and timely their activities.
  • Play a crucial role in making sure the hotel run efficiently without compromising our overall goal of providing a fantastic guest experience.
  • Reconcile revenues between system and investigate any variances.
  • Manage procurement platform, including PO approval, advise on margin performance and load into finance platform.
  • Produce robust cashflow forecasts, ensuring through communication with the wider team that all income and outgoings are captured.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheets.
  • Ensuring the external audit is competed on a timely basis and all information requested in presented in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor budgets and forecasts.
  • Perform financial analysis and reporting on operational performance.
  • Coordinate with department heads to ensure accurate financial reporting and budget adherence.
  • Participate in strategic planning and provide financial input for business development initiatives.

  • An understanding of daily, weekly, and monthly finance and operating procedures in a hotel or restaurant environment.
  • Not much escapes your attention even when working across multiple things at once.
  • Comfortable interacting with lots of different people whether that’s our own teams or external partners.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Food and Beverage procurement systems and Epos systems.
  • A confident communicator, who can ‘translate’ financial information to non-finance people.
