Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic Commis 1 to join our culinary team at our restaurant in the beautiful island of Phu Quoc, Vietnam. As a Junior Chef, you will assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, contributing to our restaurant's reputation for excellence.
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and seasoning
- Support senior chefs in cooking and plating dishes according to restaurant standards
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations
- Assist in menu planning and development, offering creative input when appropriate
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service operations
- Participate in inventory management and stock rotation
- Adapt to the fast-paced environment of a professional kitchen
- Continuously learn and improve culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs
Qualifications
- Culinary diploma or equivalent qualification
- Food safety certification
- 1-2 years of kitchen experience (preferred)
- Proficiency in basic culinary techniques and food preparation methods
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Physical stamina to work long hours in a standing position
- Ability to work in a tropical climate
- Knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine (preferred)
- Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of Vietnamese is a plus
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Passion for cooking and willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field
