Job Description

  • Assist the Pastry Chef and Demi Chef in the preparation of desserts, pastries, cakes, breads, and bakery items

  • Weigh, measure, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and production schedules

  • Carry out basic pastry tasks such as mixing, piping, glazing, baking, and decorating

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry section at all times

  • Follow food safety, hygiene (HACCP), and sanitation standards

  • Properly store ingredients and finished products, ensuring correct labeling and rotation (FIFO)

  • Assist in plating and presentation of desserts for service

  • Monitor stock levels and inform senior chefs of low inventory

  • Clean and maintain pastry equipment, tools, and workstations

  • Support senior pastry chefs during service periods and special events

  • Comply with hotel/restaurant health, safety, and quality standards

  • Be willing to learn new techniques and improve pastry skills

Qualifications

  • Basic culinary or pastry training/certificate from a recognized institute (preferred)

  • Diploma or certification in Pastry/Bakery/Culinary Arts is an advantage

  • Previous internship or entry-level experience in a pastry kitchen or bakery (preferred)

  • Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, baking, and dessert preparation

  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards

  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately

  • Willingness to learn and work under senior chefs

  • Good time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to work long hours, weekends, and shifts

  • Physically fit to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen

  • Team player with a positive attitude
