Senior WordPress Engineer – 6 Months FTC

We are looking for a Senior WordPress Developer to be part of our new Ennismore WordPress Team, based in London.  
Initially as a 6-month FTC, this role will lead Ennismore’s drive to own and define WordPress best practice development and management of their worldwide lifestyle brands & hotels. Reporting into the VP of Software Engineering, this is a great opportunity to forge a new team and be at the very centre of its growth and innovation

What you'll do...

  • Develop new and existing Gutenberg WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Write efficient maintainable code using web development and testing best practices.
  • Ensure yours and the team's code is tested/reviewed to the highest standards
  • Monitor website performance, performing refactors & optimisations where necessary as well as bug fixing.
  • Create and maintain documentation for software, processes & code used.
  • Clear communication with the team and utilizing project management tools such as JIRA. Define ways of working with internal teams and external agencies
  • Work with other WordPress developers within the team
  • Develop and maintain the development roadmap – including entire projects and BAU requests 

What we're looking for...

  • Proficient in HTML5, CSS3/SASS, PHP, JavaScript & React
  • 5+ years of experience working on full-stack WordPress development. Proven track record of developing custom WordPress themes with Gutenberg + Advanced Custom Fields. Skilled in the React, Redux, JSX & the REST API for building or extending Gutenberg blocks
  • Understanding of Gutenberg's architecture, inner workings, and best practices.
  • Using Git for version control and basic knowledge of working with Docker.
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and accessibility standards.
  • Experience working with APIs and integrations.
  • Working in an Agile dev environment is second nature – min 3 years
  • Keen to take ownership of and pride in your work
  • You’re highly organized and detail oriented; someone we can rely on to know the answers, or where to find them.
  • Enthusiastic, confident, and warm; you want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other, and has fun with it along the way!
  • You are humble. There are no egos, and no drama. You can travel as needed.
