Recently appointed by Gourmet Traveller as the Victorian Restaurant of the Year 2025. Marmelo celebrates a unique culinary style with a focus on Iberian coastal dining embracing the seafaring and fishing traditions of Port Melbourne. Wood and charcoal cooking methods impart incredible flavours bringing authenticity to the cooking process.

Marmelo is located within Hyde Melbourne Place and operated by multi award-winning, restaurateurs – Ross & Sunny Lusted.

Job Description

We’re looking for passionate Pastry Chefs of all levels to join a dynamic kitchen team, creating desserts and baked goods that delight guests and elevate the overall dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting or managing a pastry section, depending on experience level
  • Preparing and presenting high-quality pastry items in line with established standards
  • Working collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment
  • Assisting with stock control and minimising waste

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience in a pastry or kitchen role (level dependent)
  • A genuine passion for pastry and strong attention to detail
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
