The resort will boast panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf. Rixos plans to provide a platform for showcasing Qatar as a tourism destination. One of the country’s biggest draws will be Qetaifan Island North’s Waterpark attraction. The Rig 1938 is the world’s highest tower of its kind, reaching 82 metres.

Job Description

Duty Engineer

This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within our facility. You will ensure that all systems are functioning efficiently to support the operations of the organization.

  • Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including HVAC systems, boilers, generators, and other equipment as needed.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or system failures to identify and implement effective solutions promptly.
  • Respond to emergencies such as equipment breakdowns, power outages, or leaks to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of personnel and property.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and work performed. Generate reports as required by management.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards. Conduct regular safety inspections and follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials.
  • Coordinate with other departments, contractors, and vendors for maintenance projects, equipment installations, and procurement of supplies and parts.
  • Provide training and technical support to junior technicians or staff members involved in equipment operation or maintenance tasks.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, energy efficiency, and cost savings in equipment maintenance and operations.

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience of at least 2 years in hospitality in a similar capacity is preferred.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), and familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with team members, vendors, and management effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions.
  • Relevant certifications such as HVAC/R certification, electrical licenses, or other industry-specific certifications are a plus.
