Job Description

Summary

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and proper care of linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry items for hotel guests and team members. The role involves sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and laundry, while maintaining the laundry equipment and ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Sort and separate laundry by type, color, and fabric, ensuring that items are washed according to the proper care instructions.
• Operate industrial washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment to clean and dry linens, towels, guest garments, and employee uniforms.
• Fold, hang, and organize laundry items neatly, ensuring they are ready for use by hotel departments or guests.
• Iron or steam press linens, uniforms, and other items as needed.
• Inspect linens and towels for damage or wear and report any issues to the supervisor for replacement or repair.
• Ensure that all laundry is processed with care and meets the hotel's standards for cleanliness, appearance, and quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the laundry room, ensuring that laundry equipment is well-maintained and cleaned regularly.
• Perform routine checks on laundry machines to ensure they are operating efficiently and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
• Keep track of inventory levels for linen, towels, cleaning supplies, and other laundry-related items.
• Assist in inventory control by checking for missing or damaged items and reporting shortages to management.
• Handle guest laundry requests, such as special items to be cleaned or pressed.
• Deliver guest laundry items to their rooms or designated locations as per the hotel’s procedures.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures when handling cleaning chemicals and operating laundry equipment.
• Assist in the cleaning and organizing of the laundry storage area.
• Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management to support the effective operation of the department and the broader goals of the property.

Qualifications

Experience

• Previous experience in laundry operations, preferably in a hotel setting.
• Basic knowledge of laundry equipment operation and maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads.
• Stamina to be on your feet for extended periods.
• Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach.
