Job Description

Summary

The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laundry department at Delano Dubai. This role ensures that all linen, guest laundry, and uniforms are cleaned, pressed, and delivered in accordance with the hotel’s high standards of quality and service. The Supervisor, Laundry will manage a team of laundry and valet attendants, ensure efficient workflow, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the laundry facility. They will also be responsible for maintaining laundry equipment, monitoring inventory levels, and adhering to health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of laundry and valet attendants to ensure the efficient processing of linen, guest laundry, and employee uniforms.
  • Ensure all laundry items are processed in accordance with hotel standards, including sorting, washing, drying, and folding.
  • Oversee the proper storage and organization of clean linen and other laundry items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laundry area at all times.
  • Lead, train, and mentor laundry and valet attendants, ensuring they are familiar with equipment operation, laundry procedures, and safety protocols. 
  • Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and resolve any performance-related issues.
  • Ensure team member adheres to cleanliness, safety, and quality standards at all times. 
  • Monitor laundry supplies, such as detergents and chemicals, to ensure the department has adequate stock and equipment.
  • Ensure proper usage and storage of cleaning products to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Report on inventory levels, and coordinate reordering of supplies as necessary.
  • Inspect linen, uniforms, and guest laundry to ensure they meet quality standards before being delivered.
  • Investigate any guest complaints related to laundry service and address them promptly.
  • Oversee the proper handling of delicate fabrics and items requiring special treatment.
  • Ensure that all laundry operations comply with local health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain proper handling and storage of hazardous chemicals used in laundry processes.
  • Inspect laundry equipment regularly for proper functioning and safety, and follow up with the relevant department to ensure issue resolution.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management to ensure the effective operation of the laundry department.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years in a supervisory role within the laundry or housekeeping division, ideally in a luxury hospitality setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Professional and well-presented at all times.
  • Customer-centric approach with a passion for hospitality.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language.
  • Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage.
