Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technician - Carpenter to join our team in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. As a Technician - Carpenter, you will be responsible for crafting, installing, and repairing wooden structures and fixtures in various projects across the island.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine materials and dimensions required
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials to create structures, furniture, and fixtures
- Install wooden elements such as doors, windows, staircases, and custom-built furniture
- Repair and restore existing wooden structures and fixtures
- Operate and maintain a wide range of carpentry tools and equipment
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and adheres to safety regulations
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and project managers to complete projects efficiently
- Adapt carpentry techniques to suit the tropical climate of Phu Quoc
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
Qualifications
- Vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in carpentry or a related field
- Proficiency in various carpentry techniques and tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- In-depth knowledge of different wood types and their properties
- Excellent skills in measuring, cutting, and shaping wood
- Proficient in using both power tools and hand tools safely and effectively
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations in carpentry
- Physical stamina and ability to work in a tropical climate
- Expertise in furniture making, cabinetry, or construction carpentry
- Valid safety certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, First Aid) preferred
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Good communication skills in English; knowledge of Vietnamese is an advantage
