Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technician - Carpenter to join our team in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. As a Technician - Carpenter, you will be responsible for crafting, installing, and repairing wooden structures and fixtures in various projects across the island.

  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine materials and dimensions required
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials to create structures, furniture, and fixtures
  • Install wooden elements such as doors, windows, staircases, and custom-built furniture
  • Repair and restore existing wooden structures and fixtures
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of carpentry tools and equipment
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and adheres to safety regulations
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople and project managers to complete projects efficiently
  • Adapt carpentry techniques to suit the tropical climate of Phu Quoc
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area

Qualifications

  • Vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in carpentry or a related field
  • Proficiency in various carpentry techniques and tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately
  • In-depth knowledge of different wood types and their properties
  • Excellent skills in measuring, cutting, and shaping wood
  • Proficient in using both power tools and hand tools safely and effectively
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations in carpentry
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in a tropical climate
  • Expertise in furniture making, cabinetry, or construction carpentry
  • Valid safety certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, First Aid) preferred
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills in English; knowledge of Vietnamese is an advantage
