Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Barista to join our vibrant café team in the beautiful island paradise of Phu Quoc, Vietnam. As a key member of our food and beverage department, you will be responsible for crafting exceptional coffee experiences for our diverse clientele of locals and international tourists.

  • Prepare and serve a wide range of high-quality espresso-based drinks and speciality coffees, including traditional Vietnamese coffee
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring proper hygiene standards and equipment maintenance
  • Provide warm, friendly, and efficient customer service, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests
  • Assist with food service, including light meals, pastries, and local snacks
  • Manage opening and closing duties, including cash handling and stock rotation
  • Upsell daily specials and menu items to enhance customer experience and boost sales
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth café operations during peak tourism periods
  • Educate customers about coffee origins, brewing methods, and Vietnamese coffee culture
  • Adapt to the fast-paced environment of a popular island destination

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months' experience as a Barista in a busy café or hospitality setting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of coffee extraction techniques, milk texturing, and grinder calibration
  • Familiarity with Vietnamese coffee preparation methods and local coffee culture
  • Basic food handling and hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
  • Strong communication abilities in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
  • Flexibility to work across various shifts, including mornings, weekends, and public holidays
  • Team player attitude with a passion for creating positive guest experiences
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and work in a tropical climate
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate or equivalent (or willingness to obtain)
  • A keen eye for detail in presentation and quality control
