Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Duty Engineer to join our team in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. As a Duty Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all hotel systems and equipment, contributing to an exceptional guest experience in our tropical paradise.
- Conduct routine inspections and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest and staff maintenance requests, resolving issues efficiently
- Ensure all hotel premises, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, are in excellent working order
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance using computerised maintenance management systems
- Support the implementation of the preventive maintenance schedule and energy conservation initiatives
- Respond swiftly to emergencies such as power failures, equipment breakdowns, and safety hazards
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialised repairs and servicing
- Ensure compliance with local health, safety, and environmental standards and policies
- Assist in supervising maintenance staff or technicians during shifts, as required
- Participate in shift rotations, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
- Collaborate with other departments to maintain a high standard of service and comfort for our guests
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a large scale luxury hotel, resort or hospitality environment
- Pre-opening experience is beneficial
- Comprehensive knowledge of building systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire safety
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach
- Willingness to work in shifts and respond to emergency situations with resilience and flexibility
- Proficiency in using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Thorough understanding of local building codes and safety regulations in Vietnam
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and work in various conditions
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
- Adaptability to work in a tropical climate and island setting (Phu Quoc)
